Middleton Elementary PTO
The PTO supports Middleton Elementary by providing funding for supplemental curriculum needs,
extra-curricular enrichment programs and additional building needs not supplied by the district.
Enrichment Programs
ART & SCIENCE FAIRS
In the winter and spring the PTO hosts Science Fair and an Art Fair, with presentations from local high school robotics programs, chemistry and geology-related demonstrations, etc. For the science fair, students create and display a presentation based on their experiment or research. For the art fair, paintings, photography, sculptures, and all other forms of art created by Middleton students are on display. All students are invited to participate; all families are welcome to attend and view all of the students' hard work!
LITERACY & SCIENCE GOALS
These goals address specific Middleton needs each year.
CLASSROOM LEARNING SOFTWARE
The PTO funds software programs such as RAZ, an online reading program with interactive ebooks, downloadable books, and reading quizzes; and BrainPOP, an online animated educational site for kids to learn science, social studies, English, math, arts & music, health and technology.
GRADE LEVEL MONEY
This funding category reduces or covers the cost of field trips or school programs.
TEACHER START-UP
This program provides funds to each classroom teacher and specialist to use as they see fit to update their classroom each year.
SPRING THEATRE
This is an opportunity for your child to participate in a professionally directed play!
KINDERGARTEN ROUND UP
Each year, Middleton holds a Kindergarten Roundup for all incoming Kindergarteners and their parents to familiarize themselves with the school and its functions. This is a very well attended event and PTO pays for snacks for the students and sets up various tables to share information (i.e. School Tool Boxes) with new Middleton parents.
MOVIE LICENSE
The purchase of this license not only allows the PTO to show movies on movie night, but it also allows the teachers to show movies in their classroom.
READING RIVALRY
This is an optional PTO-sponsored event. Teams form a reading club, read a variety of books, and participate in a competition about those books. The intent is to foster a love of reading, introduce the students to books they may not otherwise choose, provide opportunities to work as a team, and to have fun! Learn more about Reading Rivalry here. Additional coaching resources are posted here.
MEDIA CENTER
This program provides funds to the Media Center to cover the cost of books, magazine subscriptions and more.
